It’s summer and we have a few vacations planned. We will be heading off on a family vacation this week and it is the first trip that we have taken since our 7 year old outgrew his milk allergy. This is a HUGE relief, but it also means that now we will be preparing less food at the hotel and eating at restaurants more often. The boys are excited about this, but I still want them to have some healthy snacks for the 3 hour road trip, the amusement parks, beach, zoo and parks. So here are a few of the travel snacks that I am taking along with us.
I can’t believe that today is the last day of June and that the 4th of July is only a few days away! There’s nothing like good food, friends, family, and fireworks! I always bring my favorite black bean, avocado, corn and tomato summer salad to barbecues. This is definitely on the menu for this weekend! Continue reading

Plain water can get boring, so I like to infuse my water with fruits, vegetables and herbs. Infused water is a great replacement for soda, tea, juice, and sports drinks. Making your own infused water is very easy to do and the flavor combinations are endless!
Strawberry season has officially begun and I can’t get enough of these sweet berries. Every June we have a family tradition of going strawberry picking at a local farm and the kids love it. We usually end up with strawberry juice stains on our clothes and lots of delicious berries to bring home. So what do I do with all of these strawberries (and we have a lot! Its amazing how quickly 2 boys can pick strawberries)? Continue reading
What is Shakeology and why did I start drinking it? Those are great questions. I will start by telling you that I was not a huge fan of protein/meal replacement shakes. I had bad experiences with other popular shakes and I was very hesitant to try Shakeology. The more that I researched Shakeology, the more I became intrigued. I started researching the ingredients in Shakeology. Who really knows what Yakon Root, Reishi Mushroom or Moringa are? I do now that I did my research! They are just 3 of the ingredients in Shakeology that help lower cholesterol, decrease fatigue, and enhance your immune system. Continue reading
