Fit Mom Feature~ Lauren From Holistic Fit Fam

It’s Friday and I have another amazing fit mom that I want to introduce you to.  I am especially excited to introduce you to Lauren from Holistic Fit Fam.  Lauren is a fellow fit friend, Team Inspire teammate, and a Sweat Pink and Fitfluential Ambassador.  She is a wife, mom of 2, pediatric nurse, and a running coach with a passion for holistic health. Her mission is to uplift, mentor, and coach other working moms to find ambition, drive, and compassion to do what they love. We are very similar in our passion to help other moms live a fit and healthy lifestyle for themselves and their families!! Today she is sharing her fun weekend track workout with us!

#FitFam Weekend Workout

We had planned to take the girls hiking this weekend but the weather was a bit iffy.  We decided to stay local (in case the skies decided to open), and packed up the girlies and the double jogging stroller to our local high school track and stadium.  My toddler loves to run at the track and I figured I could push the baby in the stroller while sneaking in a quick sweat session.

I have been a big fan of track HIIT workouts these days.  It is a great way to incorporate a functional and effective workout in a short period of time, AND my girls love going to the track so it usually becomes a fun family outing.

Whether you need a good strength training workout to help with your running stamina, are just looking to mix things up, or just like new challenges, I think you will love this #FitFam Weekend Workout. Give it a try, and let me know what you think!

#FitFam Weekend Workout (Approximately 40 minutes)

Warm-up: 800 Meter light  jog around track, then stretch. (5-9 minutes)

Track Set  (approx 20 minutes)

  • Run 400 meters briskly. (2 – 3 minutes)
  • 4 x 100-meter Sprints. (4 minutes) Sprint, jog back to start and immediately begin the next sprint.
  • Run 400 meters. (2 – 3 minutes)
  • 4 x 100-meter Sprints. (4 minutes) Sprint, job back to start and immediately begin the next sprint.

  • 30 (each leg) x Bench Switch Jumps. (1 minute) Place one foot on the bench then push off and jump, switching legs in the air. You should land with the starting leg on the ground and the other foot on the bench. (The movement is like a switch lunge jump you would do on the ground.)

Lauren pushups

Bonus Round (Approximately 8 minutes, only complete if your kids are not tired and cranky by this point)

  • 30 (each leg) x Walking Lunges. (1 – 2 minutes)
  • 100-meter High Knees Run. (30 seconds) lifting your knees as high as you can to the front.
  • 50 Mountain climbers (1 minute)
  • 100-meter High Knees Run. (30 seconds) lifting your knees as high as you can to the front.
  • 20 Burpees. (1 minute)
  • Run 400 meters. (2 minutes)
  • DONE!

Some Food for Thought:
It’s tons of fun to incorporate family and fitness.  We found this fun little rock climbing course (shown below), tucked away in the woods after our sweat session that my oldest was LOVING!  Life is all about balance and enjoying each moment to the fullest. Do what makes you and your family happy and forget about the haters.  The most important thing to do if you get off-track is to accept that things are never going to be perfect and keep moving forward.  Always remember, the power to make change and get back on course is in the present moment. So get moving— one thought, one choice, one step and one rep at a time. Win each moment:)
