Strawberry season has officially begun and I can’t get enough of these sweet berries. Every June we have a family tradition of going strawberry picking at a local farm and the kids love it. We usually end up with strawberry juice stains on our clothes and lots of delicious berries to bring home. So what do I do with all of these strawberries (and we have a lot! Its amazing how quickly 2 boys can pick strawberries)? I throw them into shakes! One of my favorite strawberry shakes is this strawberry, walnut and oats shake. This combination provides protein, healthy omega 3’s, fiber and a whole list of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, prebiotics and other nutrients your body needs. Plus it’s delicious and keeps me full all morning.
Strawberry, Walnut, and Oat Shake
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
- 1 scoop strawberry protein powder (I use Shakeology)
- 2 Tbsp rolled oats
- 1 Tbsp chopped raw walnuts
- 5-6 strawberries (stem and leaves removed)
- 1 cup ice
Place milk, oats, walnuts, strawberries, strawberry protein powder, and ice in a blender (I use a Vitamix). Cover and blend for 30-45 seconds until smooth. Enjoy!
